SUNSHINE SINGLES ENJOYING A NIGHT OUT AT BROADWAY PALM
The SunShine Singles, the group that Donna Milbee gave wings to several years ago, continues to soar. We had the largest attendance at our November Pizza Party meeting since this active group was launched. Terri Marotta, our current president, shared that she was gratified to see the group expanding as it made her feel the efforts involved with the planning, organizing, and executing to attract new members are paying off and it was great to see a healthy number of returning members as well.
Many activities were enjoyed at the clubhouse provided by the Summer Fun Team for the month of November and December. Many SunShine singles attended the Chili Cook-Off and musical events featuring Michael Glean, Sheldon Upchurch, Paul Larsen, and Russ Mattson. Ten of our members played Trivia under the name of Savvy Singles. In addition to these Sabal Springs’ events, several members attended the Barstool Rodeo at Forest Park, a movie, NFL games on Sunday afternoons, and a Lee County Community Band Veteran’s Day performance. A half dozen of the group act as ushers for the Ford Repertory Theater and many also have season tickets for Broadway Palm. November was indeed a busy month.
In early December, the SunShine Singles provided a smorgasbord for the Christmas Golf Cart Progressive Dinner, which was held at the home of Lorraine Harrington. The Sabal Springs Christmas Dance had two full tables of SunShine Singles as did the New Year’s Eve Party.
Five members went to the Harmony for the Holidays performance by the Sweet Adelines, while others attended the Lee County Community Band Christmas Show. Another stand-out event was New Year’s Eve at Kumo Hibachi, which was enjoyed by eight members. A handful of singles also went to various church events together to celebrate the season.
Our next meeting will be Wed., Jan. 21, at 4:30 p.m. in the Sunshine Room in the Eagle’s Landing Restaurant. Information will be verified before the meeting on the SunShine Singles Facebook page, and by email.
