The Sept. 6 Arts & Crafts luncheon was a big success. Tina Solomon, who may be familiar to many in the community as a featured entertainer, was the guest speaker. She shared a touching, and intertwining, story with a positive message. Tina is a self-admitted thrifter. One day, she found herself in Brussels where she happened upon a charming little bracelet. She was drawn to its uniqueness and price. On the bracelet there was a charm honoring St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Tina did a deep dive to understand what the charm meant. She learned that Thérèse entered the nunnery at 15, after receiving special permission from the Pope as she was not of age. Eventually, all five of her sisters joined her. Thérèse died at 24 from TB. After her death, Thérèse became known globally through her spiritual memoir, “The Story of a Soul,” which explains her theology of the “Little Way.” Tina was so inspired by the story and learned the importance of why “little roses falling from heaven can make a big impact on someone’s life.” She has taken it upon herself to sharing “love and light.” Tina conveyed several real-life examples of how she made a difference in someone’s life just by taking a few minutes of time to be kind and encouraged all of us to recognize that we too can make a positive impact through small gestures of kindness and empathy.

She closed her speech by singing a couple of verses of “The Rose.” It was a special moment.

Also, during the afternoon, Jan Lambert presented a beautiful handmade wreath and witches hat decoration for “Show and Tell.”

Linda Sholette shared preliminary information regarding the annual Guardian ad Litem — now called A.N.A’s friends — fundraiser, which supports children who are wards of the state. This year the goal is to deliver 500+ gifts as chosen by the child, in addition to pajamas and stockings, to these deserving individuals. More info to come.

Linda Voto also noted that again this year she will be collecting gifts for seniors living in a local nursing home, these are folks who would be without anything to open on Christmas, if it weren’t for the generosity of Sabal Springs’ residents. More info to come about this worthy cause as well.
