Star Gazing – The September Skies

  • September 2025
  • BY TAREN GROM

THE SUMMER TRIANGLE STARS CHART IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE

In September, Florida skies will offer views of the constellation Pegasus, the Great Square of Pegasus, and potentially some bright planets depending on the time and location. Venus and Jupiter will be visible in the predawn east, while Saturn will be visible in the mid-evening east and Mars will be visible in the evening west. A new moon on September 21 will provide dark skies for stargazing.

KEY CELESTIAL EVENTS AND CONSTELLATIONS

• Pegasus and the Great Square:

The Great Square of Pegasus, an easily recognizable asterism (star pattern), will be visible in the eastern sky on September evenings.

Planets

• Venus and Jupiter: While the closest pairing is in August, they will still be visible close together in September.

• Saturn: Saturn will be visible in the mid-evening east throughout the month.

• Mars: Mars will be visible in the evening west, but its visibility will decrease as the month progresses.
