“Bunco!!” This was a loud shout letting us know one of our SunShine Singles just added 21 points to their team’s score and was entitled to wear a special hat (loosely speaking), and possibly win a financial reward depending on whether they were or were not the person with the most buncos at the end of the games. The reason for the excitement is that she just rolled three dice matching the number of the round we were on. The person who rolled the most Buncos, thus winning the highest prize on game day — August 4 — was Shirley. Players also get a reward for having the most wins, the most “mini buncos,” and even the most losses. The SunShine Singles have added a new weekly event to their calendar called “Time for Games,” which is currently happening in the Green Card room on Mondays from 4 pm to 6 pm. To date, we have only played Bunco, but other games are being considered. Debbie List is our coordinator.

SHIRLEY WAS THE BIG BUNCO WINNER IN THE SUNSHINE SINGLES INAUGURAL TIME FOR GAMES GATHERING IN AUGUST.

The month of August flew by quickly with all of our normal activities. Many singles enjoyed events at our Clubhouse during late July and August, with large numbers (two full tables plus) showing up to eat, drink, and being merry — listening and dancing to the music of two of our favorites, Bandstand and Tina Solomon. We all agree these evenings were great moments of unity among our members. Later in August, we attended events headlined by Bandstand at other venues. Several members went to see the highly rated and very long movie, “The Odyssey” at the AMC in Merchants Crossing. Pool/Beach days were planned, a Ladies Night at “Skybar” Downtown Rooftop at the Firestone, a lunch at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, and other spontaneous events. Members should check their e-mails and our Facebook page for additions to our event calendar.
