THE EPC GREEN TEAM
Sabal Springs is a community full of helping hands. The Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC) is one of the shining examples of this spirit. The EPC consists of a dozen individuals who regularly meet to plan what it will take for the community to be properly prepared and respond in case of a hurricane. And they are ready to jump into action if any other disaster should occur.
While the Atlantic hurricane season is June 1 through November 30, the EPC has been gearing up since committees were formed in April. At least half of the members have served on the committee in prior years, and many procedures have been perfected and tested when previous storms threatened. Along with keeping the residents informed, the team offers assistance with generator operation, storm shutter installation, and first aid. The critical link is the role of “Block Captains.” There are more than three dozen Block Captains assigned to 20 to 30 homes. The groups are divided into four areas by a color-coded map, which was first devised by the Architectural Review Committee. Their goal is to gather survey forms with the information needed for every full-time, part-time, and new resident in Sabal Springs. The assignment is to:

1. Know their Neighbors
2. Know who is home and/or OK in the event of a disaster; and
3. Know who to call for specific assistance.
All of the Block Captains are listed here although some could not attend on the day of the photo shoot. Please thank them when you see them.
Check the bulletin board outside the HOA office for contact information on your Block Captain and see other pertinent storm/disaster information as it becomes available. Every resident’s responsibility is to know “who you gonna call.” We’re hoping this year’s hurricane season will go as well as the last.
