SUNSHINE SINGLES GETTING GROOVY AT WINDMILL VILLAGE.

In keeping with our mission, “find things to do and people to do them with,” the SunShine Singles found plenty to do over the past few weeks. Not that long ago I would not have thought I would be trying to put together an outfit to wear to a “Hippy Party.” However, 10 of the SunShine Singles group managed to do just that and we had a great time enjoying the music of the 60s and 70s at Windmill Village. This was one of the special party-type events we went to in addition to our own events. Members of the SunShine Singles also enjoyed the entertainment offered at our own Eagles Landing, such as Mike Glean and Trilogy as well as our favored Bandstand. We also enjoyed The Mentalist and the Cinco de Mayo party put on by our Entertainment Committee. The Cinco de Mayo party was especially colorful with the walls and tables decorated in a cheerful décor. The party had many memorable moments, such as having Nada Pajevic welcome us and introduce the Mexican Hat dance with instructions while spinning a Hula Hoop around her waist. And then there was the Mexican Hat dance itself … first learned by many of us in elementary school and not done since then. It was a bit of a train wreck but great fun. Part of the amusement was seeing awesome sombreros and other accessories, such as long hanging mustaches (one such being worn by one of our own SunShine Singles.) Another unexpected benefit of being part of this group is having someone to borrow accessories from for such events.

SUNSHINE SINGLES “VIVIENDO LA BUENA VIDA” — LIVING THE GOOD LIFE.

In the coming weeks, we will be “lunching out,” going to the beach, enjoying Sunday afternoons around our pool at Sabal Springs, and sharing more evenings with the Bandstand. Some of us are planning to take advantage of a seven-night cruise around the Eastern Caribbean on the Norwegian Aqua; reservations are currently being accepted for January 2027. Many members have renewed their season subscriptions to the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, while others continue to volunteer and act as ushers and other volunteer services for the Florida Repertory Theatre in downtown Fort Myers. Many individuals within the SunShine singles are also volunteers for their churches, animal shelters, humane organizations, as well as on Sabal Springs’ committees.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, June 24, at 4:30 p.m. in the Sunshine Room at Eagles Landing. If you would like to have your name added to our list (or removed), please contact Jane Hansen at [email protected].
